- - Use as intended - The landing net is intended only for landing fish - do not use it as a pole, paddle, or a support device. - Make sure the net has no holes and the rim is not bent. - Check that the telescopic mechanism locks properly and there is no play. - The thread connecting the rim to the rod should be tight and clean. - Do not force the rod apart - if there is any resistance, clear the locks and try again. - A poorly locked telescopic rod may fold in while landing the fish. - Maintain a stable stance when operating the landing net - slippery banks and piers increase the risk of falling. - Do not overextend the rod with a long telescopic rod. - A long extended rod can be a hazard during a storm - do not use the landing net during lightning. - Never use a landing net near high-voltage power lines, especially if it has metal components. - Carry the landing net folded to avoid snagging branches or people. - Store it out of the reach of children—metal components and the folded telescope can cause injuries. - When landing a large fish, do not bear the entire weight of the landing net—it's intended to guide the fish, not lift it in the air. - Use two hands: one on the handle, the other closer to the rim to relieve the telescope.
